Emergency Shelter

A vital safety net for our region, Tedford Housing’s emergency shelter provides adults and families with a safe, dignified place to stabilize, receive personalized support, and take meaningful steps toward permanent housing.

Our New Home

In December 2025, Tedford Housing moved into its newly constructed emergency shelter at 65 Thomas Point Road—a fully accessible building designed around safety, privacy, and the power of stability. The facility combines our former adult and family shelters into one comprehensive space, with two distinct, secure wings:

  • Adult Wing: A 24-bed environment staffed 24/7, offering safety, warmth, and consistent support for individuals experiencing homelessness.
For questions or to check bed availability, call 207-729-1161, ext. 104.

  • Family Wing: Ten private units for families with children, each designed to offer comfort and a sense of home during a difficult time.
To inquire or place your family on our list, call 207-729-1161, ext. 113.

Each wing provides a calm, structured setting where guests can regain stability, access basic needs, and work closely with dedicated case managers on personalized housing stability plans.

Stronger Services Through an On-Site Administrative Hub

At the back corner of the building is our new administrative hub, which brings our teams together in one shared location. This setup streamlines the services we offer and makes it easier for staff to communicate, coordinate, and problem-solve in real time. With case management, shelter support staff, and administrative staff all under one roof, we’re better equipped for cross-department brainstorming and quicker responses to guest needs.

A Location That Expands Opportunity

Our new shelter is located in Brunswick’s Cook’s Corner neighborhood, offering easy access to healthcare, employment opportunities, public transportation, and other essential community resources. The setting strengthens our partnerships with local agencies and helps guests connect quickly to the services that support long-term stability.

Our Mission in Action

Our new home was created in response to growing need and the belief that everyone deserves a safe place to begin again. By expanding our capacity—24 adults and 10 families—and offering a well-designed, trauma-informed environment, we are taking a major step toward building a stronger safety net for the southern Midcoast.

“This new facility is a critical piece of public health infrastructure for the midcoast, especially at a time when 40% of local households are living paycheck to paycheck. When we realize our vision of a stronger safety net, it's not just individuals who benefit—it's families, employers, schools, and the entire community.” -Andrew Lardie, Executive Director
