Combining affordable rent with on-site support is key to creating lasting stability for individuals and families who have experienced homelessness.

Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) provides a crucial opportunity for individuals and families who have previously experienced homelessness to secure and maintain stable housing. Tedford Housing offers 37 supportive housing units across six buildings in Brunswick, Bath, Lewiston, Auburn, and Augusta. Our program combines affordable rent with on-site case management, providing tenants with the support they need to stay housed while also helping them work toward long-term success in employment, education, health, and other personal goals.

Key Features of our Permanent Supportive Housing Units:

  • On-site Case Management: Residents have access to a dedicated case manager who assists with various needs, including accessing food pantries, scheduling healthcare appointments, enrolling in vocational programs, registering vehicles, and more. This support helps tenants build the foundation for long-term stability.

  • High Retention Rate: With an average length of stay of 6 years, our tenants typically exceed the standard of maintaining housing for at least one year.

  • Affordable Housing: Rental subsidies (e.g., Shelter Plus Care, Maine Housing) ensure tenants pay no more than 30% of their income toward rent, keeping housing affordable and sustainable.

  • Diverse Housing Options: Our program offers a variety of unit sizes, from efficiency apartments to family units, accommodating individuals and families with complex needs, such as mental health issues, substance use, or histories of domestic violence.
