Tedford Housing Enlists Nature to Get More People Into Housing
Tedford Housing’s “Nature Is Nurture” event unveiled curated spaces to learn, play, connect and heal at its shelter facility on Friday, May 22 from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. The event showcased ways in which the agency is building supportive connections to the natural world, in service of its mission: empowering people to move from homelessness to home. The projects being dedicated have been brought to life with community collaborators who will be recognized at the event. These include a rooftop solar photovoltaic array; a 72-foot exterior mural that playfully counters stereotypes about homelessness; a lush ADA-accessible walking path; a covered outdoor classroom; a variety of flower and vegetable gardens, and more.
Tedford Housing receives $250,000 Housing for Everyone Grant
Tedford Housing receives $250,000 Housing for Everyone Grant from the TD Charitable Foundation. Through this grant, Tedford Housing will expand its Homelessness Prevention and Outreach program to provide past-due rental assistance and personalized case management to low-income households across midcoast Maine at imminent risk of eviction. By stepping in early, Tedford helps stabilize housing situations before they escalate into homelessness. Case managers work alongside participants for up to six months—supporting budgeting, employment, landlord communication, and connections to critical resources like food, childcare, and legal aid. With this funding, Tedford expects to significantly increase the number of households served, helping more neighbors remain safely housed and avoid the financial and emotional toll of displacement.
